How Thermal Binding Works
Thermal binding turns a stack of loose pages into a bound book with a square spine, like a paperback. There is no hole punching and no plastic coil. The glue is already in the cover, so all you add is heat.
Step by step
1. Choose a coverPick the spine size that fits your stack. Each CoverBind cover has a strip of heat-activated glue already in the spine. Find your spine size.
2. Insert your pagesJog the sheets so the edges line up, then slide them into the cover. No punching and no lining up holes.
3. Heat the spineSet the document spine-down in a CoverBind machine. The glue melts and wraps around the edge of every sheet. It takes about a minute.
4. Cool and presentLet it cool for about 2 minutes and the spine sets hard. Need to change a page later? Re-heat the spine, swap it, and bind again.
Why offices choose thermal binding
- A clean, square, book-style spine that looks like it came from a print shop
- Faster than punch and bind, with nothing to line up
- Holds pages up to 4 to 5 times stronger than tape, coil or comb binding
- Your logo can go on the cover for a fully branded document
